Many young adults are emerging from the direct and constant influence of parents or guardians, into a space where they have more control and responsibility for their own lives. In this stage of life, we are discovering who we are independent of those early influences and developing our own personal worldview. We are exploring new relationships and new interests as we prepare to launch into the workforce and set ourselves up for the future. With everything that is going on, you might be feeling intense stress or pressure. Maybe you feel like you’ve taken a wrong turn, are uncertain about next steps, or need a place to explore your possibilities. Many young people realize that they’ve been impacted by something in their past that they feel ready to explore or find freedom from. Perhaps you’ve discovered something about yourself in relationships with others that you’d like to understand better or change. Whatever your goals are, therapy provides a confidential, non-judgmental space to work through your experiences, discover your personal strengths and learn to choose a future that feels exciting for you.

25 years as a clinical social worker has taught me that finding the right therapist is like trying on a pair of shoes. It has to be the right fit for you to start the journey of self-exploration. I believe in a strength based approach, where we not only explore the issues that brought you to therapy, but we explore how to expand the things that bring you joy and happiness. As Dr. Seuss once said, “life is a great balancing act” and he could not have been more right. My practice focuses on individual therapy for adolescents, and adults. My areas of expertise include depression, mood disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, Trauma, and transitional issues of work, relationships, etc. Client’s describe me as genuine and authentic, supportive, strength based, straight forward, and always keeping hope alive. Give me a call today for a free consultation and see if I am the right fit for your journey of self-exploration.

Profound change occurs at its best in the context of supportive, empathetic, and insightful relationship. Throughout our lives we will all reach certain times where we feel stuck, overwhelmed, helpless, and disconnected from ourselves and our relationships. Maybe this has been you for some time, or maybe this is a more recent state that feels jarring. Wherever you are today, psychotherapy can be the confidential and safe place to show up just as you are. We will work together to uncover and shift the negative patterns keeping you stuck and develop skills to apply off the couch and into your life.

Hello, I’m Tessa! I believe that everyone's stories should be heard, their experiences valued, and their strengths recognized. My goal is to create a space where my clients feels safe, understood, and trusted. As a biracial Latinx cisgender woman from a large blended family, my own background influences my approach to therapy. I’ve had the privilege of working with students, parents and families from diverse backgrounds in private practice, community mental health, and school settings. Together, we can navigate challenges related to relationships, family dynamics, life transitions, trauma, loss, identity work, anxiety and depression. Our therapeutic relationship may sometimes look like laughter and smiles, and other times look like facing difficult feelings, delving into your beliefs shaped by cultural and relationships, while honoring your strengths and values that make you, YOU! As your ally and collaborator, I will meet you with compassion, acceptance and empowerment, wherever you are in your journey. We will work together to closely connect you to your goals and preferred sense of self. If you’re interested in working together, please feel free to reach out.

Licensed Professional Counselor
San Marcos, CA

I have personal, lived experience with all of my primary areas of focus. I have a wide array of specialties because life presented many unexpected changes that resulted in a fulfilling career. I remember feeling out of place throughout my childhood, but I didn't know how to convey my feelings. My childhood was always unpredictable and chaotic so I was able to recognize those things in others. I didn't understand what I was feeling at the time, but I remember thinking, "how is no one seeing this or saying anything?". From a young age I had a deep sense of connection to the unmet needs of others. I was always told that I was "resilient" but I didn't want to have to be that, it didn't feel fair. Through my own personal growth I learned how to transform my emotional wounds into a way to serve others. We can't undo what was done to us, but we can take charge of how our needs are met from this point forward. I am a Depth psychotherapist and strongly rely upon experiential therapy. This means that you can expect to address the underlying deeper issues. One of the strongest components of the therapeutic process is receiving validation and genuine understanding. This results in a vulnerable and open relationship between the client and the clinician. I have a diverse background and support issues in my practice, that I have personally experienced. I have worked in a variety of mental health, rehabilitation, and addiction settings, including both: in-patient psychiatric hospitals, treatment facilities, residential, and outpatient programs, as well as caregiving facilities for persons experiencing disabilities. I spent the first part of my career as a clinical case manager working with the homeless, veterans, and persons experiencing addiction and acute mental illness. My practice focuses on assisting individuals in establishing a centered approach to their lives by digging up the past and connecting to their core values. Some of the most important aspects in my life include: advocacy, rehabilitation, fostered autonomy, and being in-tune with the needs of a wide variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I rely on your intuition and guide you to reaching your empowered self. Together we will connect to your mind, body, and unmet emotional needs. I will help you recognize and understand how your emotions impact your thoughts and decisions. I will help you develop awareness of your internal thoughts, foster insight into your body’s responses, and teach you to listen through somatic awareness.

Whatever difficulty is bringing you into therapy, ultimately it's an opportunity to learn about who you are, and how your personal and intergenerational history is affecting your experience of yourself and how you perceive the world. I work best with people who are hungry for this understanding, so they can untangle themselves from whatever is holding them back from living their best life. The truth can bring immense relief, but it is also often painful. I take seriously the need to create a relationship that is deeply compassionate and supportive, one that feels safe enough that you can confront whatever truth needs to be faced. We are embedded in cultures and political institutions that shape our experience. It is essential to consider larger social forces to fully make sense of our lives, and including these factors in the therapeutic process can help empower you by relating your personal difficulties to systems of power and oppression. Reaching out can be hard. I invite any skepticism or questions you have about me or how I work. I expect to earn your trust and respect, and I won't take it for granted.

Anxiety, depression, and overwhelming feelings can weigh you down. Quite frankly, it can feel like a real B-Word sometimes! I hear you. Many times, overwhelming feelings can pull you away from living your best life and living to your potential.  Hello, I am Alexann Masiko-Meyer, I am an eclectic counselor that would be filled with gratitude to support you.  I am an LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) providing services in North Carolina, New Jersey, Canada, England, United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, New Zealand.... and growing Lets get back to living life unapologetically! SPECIALTIES Stress, Anxiety Depression Self esteem Adjustments / Life Changes Military Transitions Teens & Young Adults I also have experience in LGBTQ, Relationship issues, Trauma and abuse, Grief, Anger management, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes Years of Experience: 5 I expect nothing less than being held to professional standards.  However, in full disclosure, I don't take myself too seriously, and I wholeheartedly feel that being a bit goofy, and being quirky, and maybe a bid different is okay!  Many times, it is more than ok, and what makes us more of an individual, helps on the journey to wellness, being unapologetically yourself, putting a laugh out there to the universe and finding the good things in life along the way. Humor and levity may be evident and incorporated into the therapeutic process.   I feel that everyone should have the ability to access mental wellness support and counseling.  As a military spouse, and moving all over the country for 18 years, allthewhile working in the helping profession, I have grown to recognize the cultural apprehension, inability to access and equity issues that surround access to counseling.    Summer Sessions Counseling is founded on the belief that mental wellness support should be accessible by everyone without stigma, physical access and transportation barriers, without requiring a diagnosis, to access one's best self. What is therapy like?  What can I expect from my first session? The first session is typically a review of information you supplied on your intake form and address concerns that you may have. You may be feeling tired of the world as it is—overstimulated, uncertain, and emotionally demanding. Whether you appear strong and capable or feel overwhelmed, many people are carrying fear, exhaustion, and a longing for something steady to hold onto. The people I work with often feel worn down by repeating patterns like people-pleasing or overextending, or feel stuck and disconnected when life feels unstable. I provide a grounded, safe environment where you can truly slow down and breathe. My approach bridges the gap between traditional clinical expertise and alternative ways of healing. I offer evidence-based practices like CBT, ACT, MBCT and Narrative Therapy. In addition to this, I also integrate somatic-based practices, Buddhism psychology, Akashic Record reading, and other spiritual healing practices into our work together. I work with self-identity, relationships, burnout, boundaries, and life transitions—especially during times of uncertainty. My goal is to help you develop an inner anchor you can return to when life feels chaotic, and to support you in moving toward a life that feels more aligned, peaceful, and sustainable.

I was inspired to become a therapist through my own therapeutic journey. Experiencing firsthand how powerful therapy can be in fostering growth and resilience motivated me to create that same space for others. While all our journeys are unique, we can relate to each other through shared emotions. I seek to create a safe space where people feel heard, seen and valued, a supportive and healing space, a space where your journey can be heard not with judgment, but with compassion. Building a strong and trusting relationship is a priority. I do this by actively listening without judgment, validating feelings, and taking the time to understand unique experiences and perspectives. I also encourage open communication, inviting feedback to ensure you feel your voice is valued throughout our work together. My goal is to walk alongside you in your journey, meeting you with empathy, compassion, and respect every step of the way. Working collaboratively to explore your thoughts and challenges creates a trusting and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. Building trust and a strong therapeutic alliance is a gradual process rooted in open communication and mutual respect. In sessions, I will take the time to get to know you, understanding your goals, values, beliefs, your unique self. We will work together at your pace, adjusting approaches based on what you feel is helpful and supportive. Your communication and feedback will strengthen the collaborative process and empower your role in the therapeutic journey.

I work with adults and adolescents who are often times struggling with anxiety or depression. Sometimes, there aren't obvious symptoms; instead, there's a sense that something seems to be interfering with their ability to be happy, their relationships, or the life they want to live. I help people see themselves from a new angle, uncovering unconscious beliefs and seeing the collective parts of themselves from a new and accepting perspective. I am accepting new remote clients in California and remote and/or in-person clients in Oregon. Please visit my website to learn more.
