Specializing in trauma and relationship healing, which includes work as a Certified EMDR therapist. My work also incorporates CBT, emotion-focused, client-centered and psychodynamic aspects. Hi there! My name is Kayla Deep, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping people experience more peace, emotional regulation, and confidence. The stories we tell ourselves about our lives are very powerful. By identifying the narratives that are empowering us and the ones that are causing us harm, we can choose to write a new story, one where we are our most authentic selves. I aim to create an environment conducive to growth with a warm and affirming presence. You are the expert of your experience, and I am here to help reflect your wisdom back to you. I especially love working with people who are undergoing some kind of transition (graduation, moving, loss of a person or relationship) as I believe these are often times where we grow the most. Whatever approach we use will be tailored to your individual needs and goals, changing and evolving as you change and evolve! Creating a warm and empowering environment to process your stressors is important to me. If this sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out to schedule a consultation!

My belief is that everyone can benefit from therapy and having the support of an unbiased person to talk to. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the belief that our thoughts create our feelings, and that if we change our negative thinking our feelings will change. CBT teaches that it is not the event which causes the emotion (and our behavioral reaction) but the meaning we give that event - or what we think ABOUT that event. There are many powerful tools that have been developed to help you change your negative thoughts and feelings. Working with a Mental Health Therapist will help you learn how to use those tools to make changes in your life and relationships. Negative distorted thoughts tell us “once everything falls into place, I will feel peace”. Therapy helps you find your peace and then everything falls into place.

I prioritize striking a balance between thoughtfulness and intentionality, while allowing space for ease and flow. I specialize in working with young adults and adults who are interested in exploring identity development, interpersonal relationship issues, and life transitions. You might be struggling in the most important relationships in your life, or trying to find a way out of feeling stagnant. Perhaps you have felt a pull to understand yourself more deeply. Through creating a safe and strong connection, we can be curious about these things together. In my graduate and post-graduate experience, I have primarily worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and trauma across a variety of settings. While I am mainly relationally focused, I have experience with psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and behavioral approaches. By leaning towards authenticity, humor, and connection, I believe we can gain insight and create shifts in how we approach our life and our relationships. Therapy is a collaborative and creative relationship that can provide the opportunity to navigate this together.

Finding ourselves stuck in problems that we can't seem to figure out isn't uncommon and asking for help isn't easy, but it is a brave first step. My hope is that once I have the opportunity to get to know you and your unique experiences, I can help you to develop the skills to manage life's challenges in a way that you can be proud of. I have worked with children, families and adults and tailor my practice to the individuals I serve. I strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgemental and considers the complexity of your life. My past work has been with individuals of all ages who have experienced complex trauma and the resulting depression, anxiety, anger, fear, shame and grief. I strive to create a safe and anti-oppressive practice that respects, validates and affirms individual racial, ethnic, religious, spiritual, gender and sexual identities. I believe that people are meant to live in relationship, but that often we get stuck in negative cycles of relating to ourselves, others and the world that keep us from growth and joy. In my own life, I have worked and continue to work to break down these things for myself, and I am honored to join others in their work to do the same. :)

Hi there! My name is Alli. As the youngest of four girls, I feel like I was born listening and curious about people’s stories from as early as I can remember. After college, I taught kindergarten before starting a masters in counseling in Baltimore. My goal is to lessen the weight that you carry and create a space for safety, creativity, respect and self-growth. I believe in the power of change and use mindful practices to help foster self-awareness and bring lovingkindness to our deepest wounds as humans. I believe therapy is a challenging yet healing process.

Dr. Jessica Reyka, Psy.D., the founder and owner of Grass Roots Healing, LLC, is a firm believer that in order to reconnect and heal, we must first go back to the "root" of the problem or concern, which often stems far back into one's life, and then work towards healing from an inward-out approach. "The stronger our roots are, the more beautiful the leaves that come from the tree"; similar to the process of therapy where we rebuild the foundation from which you view the world and create a life/beliefs/behaviors that are more in alignment with your true values and authentic self. Dr. Reyka's experience involves complex trauma, attachment & relationship issues, anxiety & other mood disorders, adoption-related trauma, & rebuilding skills related to relaxation and stress management. She approaches therapy in a collaborative manner, truly connecting with her clients, listening to their needs/goals, while gently guiding them in healing. Grass Roots Healing, LLC is a safe place for LGBTQIAPK+ individuals & all ethnic and minority groups. We strive to embrace diversity within our practice and therapeutic work. We also strive to bring evidence-based interventions and holistic approaches/modalities into the therapeutic process. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
