Our mission is to ensure that individuals of every race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and political and religious affiliation are provided a safe space to receive high quality mental health care. We utilize a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing to support and empower a diverse client population. We specialize in anxiety and mood disorders, LGBTQ issues, career counseling, relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, and substance use disorders. If you experience stress from caring for/about others and our environment, I am ready to support you. I am a climate-aware therapist, meaning I recognize climate grief and eco-anxiety as legitimate responses to a global crisis and important areas of attention in therapy to help you better navigate our changing world. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults struggling with trauma, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, and bipolar disorder. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, health anxiety and phobias, such as fear of needles, vomiting (emetophobia), flying, heights, illness or contamination. I also work with clients in challenging professional and academic environments, who may feel anxious or overwhelmed to the point of avoidance, struggle with self-criticism, or fear they won’t be successful without a punishing level of perfectionism. Many clients find themselves holding back from social situations, dating, public speaking, or professional opportunities due to a fear that something will go wrong, and uncertainty feels intolerable. My approach is warm, collaborative, and highly practical, helping you live a life not constrained by fear. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—two of the most effective evidence-based treatments for anxiety, OCD, and phobias. I also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic thinking, and supportive psychotherapy when helpful. Many clients understandably fear facing their worries or phobias. I hold a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University, and have more than a decade of clinical experience with clients across the lifespan. Her educational background includes a PhD in Human Services with a focus on Health Care Administration from Capella University, an MSN in family practice from the University of South Alabama, an MBA and BsIT from AIU, and a BSN from Emory University. With over a decade of experience as an assistant professor, she has taught across various healthcare programs at both the bachelor's and master's levels, covering fields such as Gerontology, Healthcare Administration, Management, and Nursing. Professionally, Dr. McNeill has dedicated over a decade to healthcare leadership, serving as a practicing clinician and educator. I am a pragmatic practitioner who combines an extensive background in humanistic, interpersonal, and psychodynamic theory with cognitive behavioral techniques. My aim is to get to know each client as an individual and not rely on a pre-determined program for what works. Everyone is different. I especially enjoy working with clients who are curious about themselves and willing to take the risk of seeing and understanding themselves more clearly in order to make the behavioral changes they need to improve their lives. Of course, there are times when anyone may be in difficult situations that are not of our doing (for example, dysfunctional family systems, mistreatment by those who have power/authority, COVID restrictions) and the changes we need to institute are better self-care and more compassion.
