My therapeutic approach is grounded in liberation psychology and is integrative, drawing from person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, and trauma-informed modalities. I center culturally responsive, anti-oppressive care that acknowledges the impact of systemic and structural violence. I value authenticity, collaboration, and co-creating a space where clients feel safe to be fully seen and supported, while also gently challenged toward growth and healing. I work with adults navigating mood/anxiety disorders, trauma/PTSD, identity development, life transitions, grief/loss, relational concerns, and complex life stressors. I work with clients across all identities and specialize in working with clients from marginalized backgrounds, especially Black and Caribbean individuals, and queer clients. I am a Haitian American clinician, fluent in Haitian Kreyol, second-generation, and queer. My identities, as well as my experience in hospital and community mental health settings, continue to shape my commitment to providing safe and culturally grounded community-based care.
Welcome I'm Melissa and I'm so glad you landed here! I work with young adults who are feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges—whether it’s relationship struggles, a constant worry loop that you can't get out of, low mood, struggles with food and body image, or difficulty with change. If you're reading this, you might be feeling out of balance or disconnected from what’s meaningful to you. Maybe you’re not sure what’s meaningful right now. You could be stuck in old patterns that no longer serve you, unsure about your next steps, or just know something feels "off" without being able to explain why. Or maybe you just need a safe space to explore it all. Whatever you're experiencing, it’s all valid—and it’s all welcome here.
We are a multi-specialty center dedicated to providing evidence-based therapy, consultations, and training for adults and youth in the greater Boston area, Massachusetts, and beyond. We were formed by Harvard-trained psychologists with expertise in anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders.
I offer psychodynamic therapy, which can alleviate psychological symptoms while creating a space to understand ourselves in new ways. This approach pays close attention to the smallest details of our lives, exploring our histories to better understand our struggles and desires. Symptoms are examined in the context of our lives and the forces that shape them. I view therapy as a conversation in which you can say anything. This may include speaking about your past, but it can also include dreams, fears, wishes, fantasies, or whatever else comes to mind. Together, we can be curious about what patterns emerge and what they may reveal. I provide individual therapy to individuals experiencing a range of issues, including trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, life transitions, college adjustment and relationship struggles. I have worked extensively with young adults who have experienced childhood trauma and serious mental illness. I also have expertise in the treatment of personality disorders. I enjoy working with clients of diverse identities and backgrounds and have worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health and inpatient settings. Much of my work has been with members of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as with individuals underrepresented in therapy.
Welcome! I provide nutrition counseling from a relationship-based, trauma-informed, and Health At Every Size (HAES) lens. I specialize in working with college-aged students. About Me / Specialties I am a licensed psychologist specializing in treating adolescents and young adults with OCD, anxiety (including social anxiety, panic, phobias, and generalized anxiety), and related conditions such as body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania, tics, and excoriation disorder. I provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I see clients in-person in Cambridge, MA and virtually throughout Massachusetts and Texas. I also work with parents, offering coaching to help support their teen or young adult while reducing family accommodations. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative space where we take mental health seriously—but not ourselves too seriously. A little humor can go a long way in therapy! Treatment Approach I tailor treatment to each individual, often addressing co-occurring concerns like depression, eating issues, or trauma alongside anxiety or OCD. Using ERP, CBT, ACT, and DBT strategies, I help students manage symptoms, regulate emotions, and make meaningful, lasting changes—all in a supportive and approachable way. Training & Experience I earned my PhD from the University of Virginia, completed my clinical internship at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for OCD and Related Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where I currently see therapy patients and conduct research on OCD spectrum disorders.
Hello, I enjoy working with young adults on life transition issues. These include living independently for the first time, fitting into a new community, loneliness, anxiety, depression. I am also a neuropsychologist, experienced in working with students who have learning and attentional difficulties. My therapy tends to be goal-focused and short-term. I work hard on building comfort and trust with clients, so issues and feedback can be shared in a growth-enhancing way. I do not treat clients who are susceptible to having major crises requiring urgent care and hospitalization. My area of expertise is the development of a positive identity and rewarding relationships.
Life is full of uncertainty, changes, losses, gains, and growth. Some are expected, some are not. Therapy can help you give voice to your own narratives, make sense of experiences, better understand and embrace who you are, and empower yourself for meaningful changes. This is a journey to enhance relationship with self and others, to extend the sense of safety and belonging, to know the art of accepting and forgiving, to be in touch with resiliency, to move toward self-compassion, and to have the courage of fully being and thriving. Being bilingual, I do therapy in English and Mandarin, with specialties in cross cultural adjustment, identity development, interpersonal relationships, family issues, grief and loss. I enjoy helping individuals who are going through life transitions and needing help and support on battling self critic, experiencing marginalization, and being a POC in a PWI. Therapeutic relationship is dear to my heart. I approach therapy with respect, curiosity, empathy, thoughtfulness, and collaboration. My style is warm, relational, strength based, integrative with multicultural lens and mindfulness approach. If you are interested in learning more about my practice, or have any questions to me, please contact me by phone or email.

I practice from a relational psychodynamic and acceptance-based perspective, grounding my work in an understanding of how distress emerges in the context of structural oppression. I view healing as a process that includes resisting oppression and engaging compassionately with difficult emotions and thoughts. In therapy, I collaborate with clients to examine the narratives imposed on them and explore pathways toward living their values. I support adults navigating mood and anxiety concerns, identity development, life transitions, relational challenges, trauma, grief, structural oppression and substance use. I work with clients across all identities and specialize in working with Asian American and LGBTQ+ populations. My identities as a bilingual (Tagalog) Filipino American queer cisgender woman shape my commitment to serving Asian American, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ communities. I research the mental health impacts of Asian American sexually expansive people’s coping and resistance to racism and heterosexism, and their experiences of post‑traumatic growth and meaning‑making.
People seek psychotherapy for different reasons. You may want to address symptoms of depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem, feelings of distress, vulnerability, or isolation. You may be searching for greater meaning, connection, authenticity, and empowerment in your daily interactions. Therapy can help reveal and change patterns that inhibit or undermine living the life you desire. In a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, we can create conditions for growth, challenge ways of seeing, process painful experiences, and increase your awareness and acceptance of different parts of yourself. I take a relational therapeutic approach and integrate methods that promote insight, emotional awareness, and motivation for behavioral change. Through my training and education at Harvard and Boston Universities, I developed expertise in treating anxiety disorders, trauma and loss, and in helping people identify and strengthen their sources of resilience. It can be an uncomfortable endeavor to start therapy for the first time or again. Building comfort and trust in relationship is one of the first things you and I would work on together. I welcome your questions and input from the start and throughout the process. Please feel free to get in touch.
