*I am currently meeting with clients via telehealth or in person* My approach to therapy is client-centered at its core, providing a judgment-free zone to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I trust my clients to know what they are looking for out of therapy, so we’ll collaborate and decide on goals together. You'll set the tone, pace, and agenda. I gently guide you as we talk through worries, learn new skills, or better understand what drives your habits, behaviors, and emotions. I love to laugh with my clients, so let’s have some fun too. Trauma has always been present in the work that I do. For that reason, I pursued advanced training and evidence-based treatments to adequately address the level of trauma my clients experience. My modality of choice is EMDR and I use EMDR with the majority of my clients. When not using EMDR, I use a non-directive Client Centered Therapy approach. Testing: I am able to complete testing in the areas of learning disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, personality disorders, and trauma/dissociation. I do not complete testing that is for the court system or custody evaluations. My assessments are comprehensive and lengthy, so they are not always covered by insurance. Please contact me with questions.
Therapy is an important step to reach comfort with the uncomfortable. I am deeply committed to working with you to progress through difficult situations. I look forward to working with you to gain an understanding of the emotional challenges in front of you and collaborate to explore ways to mitigate these challenges. College is a time where we are often unsure of exactly what we are struggling with or why we feel overwhelmed by our emotional responses - I am here to work with you on how to proceed. I utilize an integrative approach informed by CBT, DBT, ACT, and relational therapeutic principles. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental, while occasionally using humor to illustrate understanding and develop strong bonds with my patients. I have extensive experience working with young adults and college students, as most of my work within my private practice centers on this developmental period. I am always available for free confidential consultations to address any questions or concerns.
During your life, you may experience difficult periods of adjustment related to major life changes and/or losses, difficulty in relationships, and/or cultural/social differences in environmental contexts. These periods in your life may lead to or be related to general difficulty coping with life circumstance, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. I provide a holistic approach to working with clients striving to understand them from an intrapsychic, interpersonal, and sociocultural perspective. In working with you, I endeavor to understand how your personality, relationships, and sociocultural identities and environmental contexts interact to affect your psychological functioning and wellbeing. Personal development through counseling/psychotherapy comes from feeling secure in a relational context to explore one's issues. Primary to this process is the establishment of a nurturing therapeutic relationship/alliance. In establishing a safe environment, I will assist you in experiencing more satisfying attitudes, relationships, and feeling more empowered. A major aspect of my work involves understanding how racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity affects one's psychosocial functioning. Understanding your sociocultural identities and how they inform and affect your life assists me in determining what interventions and techniques will be most appropriate for you.

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring considerable expertise to my position as a provider in an outpatient substance abuse clinic. Life often comes at you from many angles, and sometimes the weight of change, anxiety, or difficult memories can make it hard to feel like yourself. With more than six years of experience as a licensed mental health counselor, my work is built around helping adolescents and adults navigate life's transitions, work through relationship issues, find balance, and reconnect with who they know themselves to be. Specializing in life adjustments that have often been created from feelings of anxiety and even potential traumatic experiences/memories, I understand how deeply personal and layered these experiences can be. Whether you're processing a major shift or working through something that has lingered for years, you deserve care that meets you where you are. My commitment to you goes beyond the session: I am dedicated to consistently evolving and growing with you each step of the way, while also focusing on continuing education to recognize and treat the various personal and life stressors taking place in the world around us. In our work together, the focus is entirely on you, because what you're experiencing, and related symptoms, deserve to be treated. Using evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy, we'll move toward self-healing in a way that feels grounded and sustainable. Support, motivation, and accountability are at the heart of how I practice. You can also expect therapeutic homework from time to time, with real-world opportunities to practice the skills we explore in session. Bringing those tools into your daily life is, I believe, one of the most powerful ways to set the tone and get us back to where we want to be. My path to becoming a therapist, much like life itself, has not always been linear and clear. Growing up in a divorced household, change and adjustment were constants. It was through my own experience in therapy that I discovered something remarkable: healing is genuinely possible, and with the right support, so is transformation. That discovery became the foundation of my practice. What was given to me through that work is exactly what I want to offer you. Change is achievable, on any level, and you don't have to find your way there alone. When I'm not in session, you'll likely find me cheering on a favorite team, getting lost in a psychological thriller, or spending time with family.

I provide virtual therapy to clients located in Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. I am inspired when I see college-age men and women who are searching for emotional, financial, and intellectual independence. College can be a challenging time of finding identity and intimacy and I assist by helping clarify college relationships. Having taught in a Graduate School program for social workers for 5 years, as well as attended college while raising children, I understand many things about the stages of early adulthood. I offer a safe space to process different parts that may be confusing using the IKVaS Method, a clinically based approach to processing adverse emotions, synthesized from 15 years of practice. You will safely integrate the different facets of your personality and enhance congruence, agency, and personal power, enabling health growth.

Welcome! Taking the first steps towards finding a therapist you "click" with can be intimidating (and exhausting) so I give you tons of credit for getting this far. I feel honored to work with my clients because I know how hard it can be to open up about personal things. I believe in the healing power of a strong therapeutic relationship, a relationship where you feel truly "seen" and understood. I like to think of a therapist's role as a supportive, steady companion who walks next to you on your path. While I certainly do not have all the answers, I do have plenty of skills and experience that might be helpful along the way. Part of what I love about being a therapist is hearing people's rich stories of not only heartache and struggle, but resilience and healing. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to talk about those deeply personal experiences. If it sounds like we might "click", feel free to reach out to schedule an intro call. I look forward to it!
