Therapists for college students near Portland State University
What do you do when what everyone calls "the best years of your life' just aren't?? The transition from home to college is an exciting one, but one that brings with it many new experiences...leaving home (sometimes for the first time), living more independently, meeting a whole world of new people, and learning more about yourself...your strengths and weaknesses. As a college student you often face adversities such as a lack of stability, increased social and pressures, and a strong push towards academic hyper-achievement. Together with familial and social (media) pressure college students often experience changes in sleep, eating and energy patterns, irritability, a loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed, and substance abuse. Knowing when you need support, and taking the initiative to actually get that help is an important first step in figuring things out. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, homesickness, finding your people or just trying to figure yourself out I hope that I can help.

Board-certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. I specialize in treating college students who are dealing with severe anxiety, depression, stress, and complex trauma. Over the years, I have worked with many college students who have found themselves feeling anxious and depressed to the point that they can't continue with school. Many students report going down the same rabbit hole; as the demands of college increase, they become strapped for time and start to neglect their usual self-care routines—eating healthy, exercising, and relaxing. Not surprisingly, their mood becomes poor. Sadly, ignoring these early changes will cause things to get worse. Students then reported no longer enjoying activities that were usually the highlight of their day, feeling exhausted continuously but unable to get a good night’s sleep. Next, their class performance suffers; they sometimes miss classes because they can’t get out of bed. In some cases, students find themselves in a dark place, barely eating, and unable to concentrate enough to read even a short paragraph in their books. It is not uncommon that thoughts begin to circle the same unpleasant memories and nagging fears, resulting in a sense of hopelessness and guilt. The good news is that, In many cases, I have been able to help those individuals feel better and develop the resilience strategies they needed so they could continue with school and graduate successfully. When we work together, you can be assured that you will never be judged; everything we discuss will be confidential. You will be provided with the most advanced techniques appropriate to your needs, and they will help you feel better about obtaining the goals you want to reach. No situation is too small or too large that I can't help you with. Call today for more information. 844-802-6512

My passion is to help adults of all ages to move past the challenges of life that brings them to therapy. Maybe you’ve tried everything you know and still can’t resolve current or past issues. Therapy can be helpful no matter where we start. It can help us cope with stress and life transitions, heal from trauma, cultivate new skills, and build a life worth living. I enjoy supporting clients as they get to know different parts of themselves, and build friendlier relationships with these parts. Providing warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative support is at the core of my practice. My personal and professional experience as a multiracial person makes me passionate about supporting diverse clients. I enjoy working with clients varying in age, gender identity, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, health concerns, nationality, and religion. I have over 15 years of experience working with clients across a myriad of concerns. Some areas of focus include anxiety, trauma, depression, LGBTQIA+, couples therapy, gender affirming care, eating and body image concerns.
It’s only within the last few decades that research on ADHD and autism started including females! Girls/women/AFAB individuals have been overlooked, undiagnosed, or *mis*diagnosed and labeled as ‘moody’, ‘too emotional’, ‘spacey’, etc. One study found that around 46% of women were misdiagnosed with another disorder before being diagnosed with ADHD! I am passionate about helping adult women and AFAB individuals with ADHD and/or ASD learn new skills, gain confidence, and move away from shame. I strive to be authentic, compassionate, and respectful, and to foster a relationship where you feel genuinely seen and valued. My therapy style is influenced by the work of Brené Brown, who writes, "We are all made of strength and struggle." I am a cheerleader in the best sense of that word; I will encourage you to build on your strengths and support you through your struggles. I believe in the healing power of play and creativity, and infuse my work with humor and spontaneity. I love helping people identify and explore the various parts/roles/identities that make them unique beings. I don’t believe in ‘one size fits all' therapy and am trained in numerous modalities. We can work together to discover what approaches work best for you!
