I am a Harvard-trained, Harvard-affiliated, board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. I strongly believe that the best psychiatric care is centered on the whole person, not just on a diagnosis or a specific medication. I provide weekly therapy and work with patients to determine if medications can be of help. I do not believe that everyone needs a medication, but they can be useful in treating particular psychiatric symptoms; I will work with you in order to find the best treatment modality that meets your goals and needs. My training in psychotherapy includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Exposure/Response Prevention (Ex/RP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. In order to offer comprehensive treatment, I do not accept insurance in my private practice. I am currently conducting sessions via telemedicine only. Please feel free to send me an email to set up a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so I can answer any questions and see if I can be of help.

In addition to my private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where I teach psychology and psychiatry graduate students. Do you find yourself stuck or pained in relationships - with yourself, others, the world, or your past? The struggle may show up as loneliness, emptiness, maladaptive interpersonal patterns, or as symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, disordered eating etc. I strive to create trust in a nonjudgmental and authentic atmosphere, from where we work together to understand and help resolve your struggles. My style in session is warm, collaborative, and actively engaged. I'm not a passive listener who nods along silently—I'm present with you, noticing what's happening in the room, gently drawing attention to patterns, emotions, and moments that matter, including the ones you might be inclined to gloss over. Sometimes our work is more experiential—slowing down to sit with what's emerging rather than rushing past it. Other times it's more practical and action-oriented—working on concrete strategies, trying new behaviors, or building skills you can use between sessions. I blend insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, and emotion-focused approaches in individualized ways that fit who you are and what you're working through. I bring extensive experience across college counseling centers and mental health clinics, having most recently served as a staff psychologist at Harvard University Health Services, and previously at Case Western Reserve University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Northwestern University (where I completed my postdoctoral fellowship). I am now in full-time private practice. I'm also the Chinese translator of Irvin Yalom's Existential Psychotherapy and The Gift of Therapy, and serve on the Expert Committee at Jiandanxinli (简单心理), the largest therapist platform in China.

With 12 years of experience in the mental health field, I take a thoughtful, compassionate, and interactive approach to therapy. I specialize in working with individuals and couples facing challenges such as trauma, ADHD, depression, anxiety, feelings of dissatisfaction, childhood trauma, and relationship challenges. My career includes working with adolescents, in-home family therapy, chronic mental health needs, and primary care settings. I have recently graduated with my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Framingham State University in May 2024. In my work with couples, I recognize that communication can often be a significant barrier to connection. Many couples I work with experience their own mental health needs, which can complicate interactions and lead to misunderstandings. I create a safe and supportive environment where partners can openly express their thoughts and feelings. Together, we explore the underlying issues that may be hindering communication/connection and work on strategies to enhance understanding and empathy. Using techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic approaches, I help couples develop practical skills for healthier communication. This includes learning how to express needs effectively, navigate conflict, and build emotional intimacy. My goal is to empower couples to reconnect and strengthen their relationships, even in the face of individual challenges. I extend my couple’s work to family therapy, in which I work with small family systems around communication and interactional patterns. For individuals, I focus on fostering self-discovery and skill building. I help clients develop coping strategies tailored to their unique experiences and mental health needs. From Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I pull a blend of coping strategies and reframing to assist individuals in changing what they can change and learning to tolerate/accept what they cannot change. From my experience in primary care, I incorporate wellness both emotionally and physically into sessions. As a recent college graduate, I can relate to the challenges of modern day students. I believe therapy is a collaborative process and as is such, invite clients to share their concerns and feedback throughout the process. My style pulls from a blend of approaches and my approach is interactive. When beneficial, I collaborate with other service providers to enhance our work together. I look forward to walking alongside your journey.
