Hi, my name is Richard Howard and I am one of the licensed counselors here at Wright's Care Counseling Services. As the one setting up this account, I feel that it's necessary to include the practice as a whole rather than simply myself in case you as a patient have specific preferences as to who you would like to work with. Feel free to check it out and learn more about our practice. We provide in-office and telehealth (phone or zoom) counseling sessions and have offices in Greensboro, Asheboro, and Winston-Salem. We take private insurances as well as Medicaid.

I specialize in helping college students who are navigating anxiety, depression, mood swings, difficult life transitions, and PTSD. College can be one of the most exciting and overwhelming seasons of your life. You may be adjusting to being away from home, navigating new relationships, questioning your major, managing academic pressure, or quietly carrying anxiety, depression, or past trauma that hasn’t had space to heal. On the outside, it can look like everyone else is handling it just fine — but inside, you might feel stuck, exhausted, unmotivated, or unsure of who you’re becoming. If you’re in that space, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to work through it by yourself. I work with college students who are in the middle of real life transitions — identity shifts, relationship changes, academic stress, family expectations, grief, trauma, and the quiet weight of self-doubt. Depression during college often doesn’t look like “sad all the time.” It can show up as procrastination, isolation, low motivation, difficulty focusing, or feeling disconnected from the person you used to be. Trauma can show up in relationships, in trust, in sleep, or in how hard you are on yourself. Together, we slow things down. We make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. We identify patterns that are keeping you stuck and build practical tools that help you feel more steady, confident, and grounded. My approach is collaborative and straightforward. I don’t believe in sitting back silently while you struggle to find words. We talk. We process. We challenge unhelpful thoughts. We work through emotional blocks. I integrate approaches such as CBT, trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based strategies to help you build resilience while honoring your story. My goal is not just symptom relief — it’s helping you understand yourself better so you can move forward with clarity and confidence. College is a time of growth — but growth can feel uncomfortable. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, numb, stuck, or unsure about your direction, therapy can be a space to reset and regain momentum. You deserve support as you figure out who you are and who you want to become. If you’re ready to take the next step, I invite you to Request an Initial Appointment and begin therapy. You don’t have to wait until things get worse. Let’s work together to help you regain balance, rebuild confidence, and move through this season with strength.

I help clients get to know themselves closely. Early adulthood, coming off the chaos of adolescence, is a tough time, exacerbated by this extraordinarily tough time in the world. Working with me means sitting together and listening very carefully to you. As we listen together on a journey to discern your true self, we will hear many voices. Memories will surface. Feelings will come up. By exploring yourself in our treatment relationship, you can come to relate to yourself in a new way and gain clarity, confidence, and peace that you can handle what life brings. I specialize in psychodynamic treatment.

Have you recently experienced trauma or struggling with past trauma? I provide trauma-informed therapy in a way that is warm and engaging. Are you stumbling through the relentless bs of the last few years? Perhaps current events reopened old wounds or crushed you with crippling anxiety. I work with clients who are distressed, in pain, and ready for relief - who go between feeling incredibly tense or just numb. I treat different types of trauma with a focus on complex childhood trauma. Together, we'll identify the source of your pain and find ways to help you heal so that you can feel and function better. Often that looks like improved relationships, a calm mind, relaxed body, and a clearer vision about what you want to accomplish moving forward.

Hi, I’m Rithy (pronounced as ‘Rit-Tea’). As an openly proud gay man and a first- generation Asian American (Cambodian & Hmong), I deeply recognize how mental health is woven into our identity, culture, and sense of belonging. My own journey has shown me how identity can sometimes act as a barrier to accessing therapy, whether due to stigma, cultural expectations, or a lack of representation in the field. My passion for mental wellness is rooted in the belief that people are the experts in themselves, and therapy should honor their wisdom, strengths, and lived experiences. With over six years of experience in health and human services, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, Autistic and otherwise neurodivergent individuals, and people from diverse socioeconomic, educational, and intersectional identities. I help clients navigate stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Above all, I’m committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and affirming space where people can show up fully as themselves. My intention is to meet you where you are in your mental wellness journey and build on your strengths. Together, we will create meaningful change at a pace and capacity that feels right for you. I believe healing happens in a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued. With that in mind, I take a holistic, person-centered approach, promoting an affirming and supportive atmosphere-especially for those exploring LGBTOIA+ identity, relationships, anxiety, and life transitions. I tailor therapy sessions to your unique needs, using modalities like Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, and Psychoeducation. I also use the Gottman Method to help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict with compassion. My approach is affirming and tailored to honor the unique dynamics and identities within each relationship
