My clients often come to me with a history of trauma or adversity, and a strong desire to process and understand how their past has shaped them to be the person they are today. They’re motivated, insightful, eager to grow, and have a strong desire to learn the skills necessary to have healthier relationships, better communication, and improved confidence. Through our work together, we begin to understand and develop the tools necessary to manage anxiety and depressive symptoms that can at times be a barrier for further growth. I aim to provide an empathetic and compassionate space where clients feel safe to open up and supported in their process. Utilizing a non-pathologizing and trauma-informed lens, I help clients put together a cohesive narrative of their life experiences to empower them to begin building a life that feels aligned with their goals and values. At the core of my work is the belief that a strong therapeutic connection is the foundation for successful treatment allowing for personal growth, insight, and healing. Beginning therapy is not always an easy process, but we will always go at your pace as we work toward better days.

Are you a resilient person who is struggling? Have you lived through a recent traumatic event or had a stressful childhood, and find yourself frequently stuck in self-destructive patterns and relationships? Is adjusting to college life causing you to feel anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed and just plain burnt out? Or have you experienced a sexual assault and don't know how to deal with it? Adjusting to college is a significant life transition and it's not always clear what to do next. Finding confidence in your own voice and abilities, and clarity about your own needs can be difficult when you've been through stressful experiences. I'm here to guide you back to yourself, offer you some coping skills, help you clarify your life direction and reach your goals. I specialize in working with professionals in the performing arts and other creative fields, as well as those who want to enter them. I also work frequently with people in the helping professions and social justice oriented fields. My approach is informed by my own life experience as a former professional dancer in the American Ballet Theatre, and by the study of meditation and yoga. I have been in the social work field since graduating from Hunter College School of Social work 2004. In addition to talk therapy, I use mindfulness techniques like meditation, guided visualizations, as well as attention to body sensations to help you identify and begin to move through where you get blocked. I am also trained in EMDR and utilize that technique to help people heal from trauma and other stressful experiences. **Will be out of office July 11-.**

I believe healing starts with genuine connection, and it’s an honor to be part of that process with you. My passion is helping people discover a fuller, more meaningful life, and I’m committed to walking alongside you every step of the way. With evidence-based tools and a compassionate approach, we’ll create a nurturing space for you to explore your values, hopes, and goals at your own pace. My intention is to always meet you exactly where you are and empower you to experience more freedom, presence and joy in your life. I work with individuals who want to understand their story more deeply; exploring childhood experiences, recognizing patterns, and healing from attachment wounds. Using evidence-based tools and a compassionate, meet-you-where-you-are approach, I’m here to support you along the way. Therapy is about understanding yourself more fully and finding the confidence to live in alignment with what matters most to you. The hardest part is often getting started. I am a therapist-in-training providing sliding scale therapy under the supervision of Jessenia until May 2026. I am a first-generation Latina- I speak Spanish and English fluently. I have experience in a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic with young adults, elders, and adolescents. I am a firm believer that our identities are essential in understanding our life experiences and should be considered in a therapeutic relationship. I also consider the importance of intergenerational trauma- understanding we are carriers of past generational trauma. Along with societal barriers that directly affect our life experiences. Who we are now is influenced by our identities, life experience, and generational trauma. My approach includes the importance of identities and focuses on creating a safe, non-judgmental space. I guide with curiosity and empathy to welcome your feelings, thoughts, and life experiences. In our therapeutic relationship, I focus on understanding the interconnectedness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also explore past life experiences and recognize its influence in personality, behavior, and/or interpersonal relationships. Together, we will explore, process, and heal to overcome internal barriers.

Music Therapist
Queens, NY

We are moved to seek mental health treatment when traditional methods of self-care are not enough, when life becomes too much to handle on our own. Regardless of your specific issues, we will be exploring the ways in which creativity (especially music) can help you meet the challenges you face. Through our artistic collaboration and talk therapy, we will be able to discover patterns of thought and ways of relating that may be transformed through greater self-knowledge. Being musically talented is not a prerequisite for music therapy, just experience with the immense depth of feeling that music provides. As a humanistically oriented therapist, empathy forms the foundation of my practice. All material is welcome in sessions, and will be met with unconditional care. Part of our work together will be expanding our understanding of the material you present, and how best to use music to achieve your goals.

As your therapist, I will help you know yourself in a deeper way. In doing so, you will be better equipped to enact changes in your life that will lead to greater happiness and a sense of well-being. We cannot erase negative past experiences. We can, however, work together to help you to better understand and to respond to these experiences in more constructive ways. Using a variety of therapeutic approaches, I will help you to become more aware of your long standing, negative behavioral patterns which are getting in your way of resolving challenges and of establishing and meeting your goals in life. I specialize in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, conflicted relationships, work stress and identity issues. As an alternative to therapy, I also offer coaching services for clients working toward specific personal goals in the areas of career/work, self care (e.g. weight loss, improved work-life balance, meditation/mindfulness practices) and relationships. In addition to my 5th Avenue office, I have offices on East 57th St and in Great Neck, Long Island. I also provide therapy online to residents of NY State.

Making the decision to go to counseling can often feel overwhelming. Whether you’re just beginning your counseling journey, or looking to make a change, I recognize the importance of working with a counselor who feels like the right fit for you. I seek to cultivate a mutual sense of trust, respect, and comfort in the therapeutic space to create the necessary foundation for any therapeutic work to begin. I take a trauma-informed approach guided by feminist perspectives that is tailored to each client. I integrate techniques from a range of perspectives, as I firmly believe every client is different and requires an approach that fits their individual needs. I strive to empower you to explore your experiences in a non-judgemental and supportive environment. I enjoy working with individuals 18+ on anxiety, trauma, women’s issues, and life transitions, though I have experience treating a range of presentations. Healing is not a linear process and what may sometimes seem like a step back is often a step forward. I look forward to working with you and sharing in all that your unique journey brings!

Rebecca Brown
Clinical Social Work/Therapist
St. Petersburg, FL

PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES: Rebecca’s clinical focus is on helping adult female identified dancers develop healthy relationships with their bodies and food. She guides clients in reconnecting with their bodies, often using the process of “embodiment,” a multilayered awareness of your body and how you connect to or relate to the world around you. Through the holistic practices of mind- body awareness, Rebecca educates her clients on how their emotions may sometimes be reflected through physical symptoms, often called psychosomatic symptoms. Working with Rebecca, clients also receive guidance on eating in a self attuned way to manage disordered eating behaviors. She works from the Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective and helps clients understand the internal and external factors that contribute to disordered eating, body image issues and problems with self esteem. Dancers are always on display, whether taking recreational classes at the studio or at rehearsal and especially during performances. Outside of the dance world, there’s the everyday societal expectations of how our bodies should be. Rebecca is familiar with the unique challenges dancers face on and off stage. PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT COACHING FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS: Contact Rebecca for more information. With her background in Applied Sports and Performance Psychology, Rebecca offers individual and group coaching sessions to adult dancers. Coaching sessions are available to help dancers of all levels achieve improved overall performance, using mental skills training. Coaching is separate from health care service.
