Hi, I’m Mirabelle. I bring a warm and patient curiosity to my clients that creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore what has brought you into therapy. Before working in private practice, I was a hospice social worker supporting people facing terminal illnesses and their caregivers. Accompanying people through illness and death has given me a reverence for existential questions and transitions––for what it really means to be alive. I understand therapy as a space to explore these questions. My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, which means we will discover how your early experiences and relationships, as well as your unconscious life, shape your present. We will move at the pace that feels right for you. Together, we will find the words to make meaning out of your experience. Our work will help to reduce the symptoms that are causing you problems as well as deepen your connection to yourself and others. I am guided by anti-oppressive principles. In addition to my work in hospice, I have worked in community based and outpatient mental health settings with queer folks, people with serious mental illness and personality disorders, and complex trauma. I enjoy working with people who have received mental health diagnoses, and themes related to illness and medical trauma.
We are a team of therapists who work with students and young adults navigating stress, identity, and the feeling of having to hold everything together. Many of the students we support are balancing different expectations from family, culture, and their own goals. Some feel caught between different worlds, while others find themselves overthinking, second-guessing, or feeling disconnected from who they are. As a team, we are especially attuned to the experiences of students from multicultural, international, and Asian or Asian American backgrounds. We understand how identity, family dynamics, and expectations can shape the way you move through the world. In this Kind Space, your voice is valued, your story is honored, and every part of you is welcomed. Together, we work to uncover what matters most, address challenges in a way that feels authentic, and build strategies that help you feel grounded, empowered, and more connected to yourself.

Our drive as therapists has always been to help others, and to help guide clients into finding their inner peace at a time when so many - and understandably so - have felt an intense amount of anxiety, sadness, and just an overall sense of emotional turmoil. We work through a lot of things with our clients: how to get unstuck, establishing boundaries, feeling more confident, and finding strategies to work through the anxiety and depression that plagues so many, to name a few. Most importantly however, we hope to be able to help you reclaim your own space in a world that demands you to be quiet. To be able to really live. Unapologetically. Bravely.

I have worked at different university counseling centers in the past, including California College of the Arts, Barnard College, Columbia University, the Graduate Center of CUNY, and last in the role of assistant director of the counseling center at Fordham University. I have been in private practice for 20 years now, where I see many undergraduate and graduate students. The goal of my work with you is to help you make your life more fulfilling. Good psychotherapy will alleviate your personal suffering, and make you more resourceful emotionally and practically. It will strengthen your capacity to negotiate relationships, to love, and feel more alive and connected. I respect your intelligence, and aim for us to be collaborators in the process of psychotherapy. I listen closely to you and share my questions and observations with you. I am a psychoanalyst certified by NYU, where I received four awards. I completed advanced training in couple's therapy (White Institute). I published a book entitled "Immigration in Psychoanalysis," give talks, supervise and teach. Areas of specialty are: Our relationship to ourselves and others. Couples therapy, immigration and acculturation, childhood trauma, creative and work blocks. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with more than 10 years of experience helping adults navigate trauma and inner-child healing, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationships, and major life transitions. My work centers people of all backgrounds, with a particular focus on women, neurodivergent individuals, and members of culturally diverse and LGBTQ+ communities. Together, we make sense of the patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself, so you can heal from past experiences, better understand your emotions and relationships, build self-compassion, and create meaningful change that helps you feel more grounded and authentic in your life. I believe in meeting each person with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment, which allows me to be a genuine, collaborative partner in your care. From there, we can recognize and break the patterns that no longer serve you and move toward a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and fulfilling. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive, integrating evidence-based techniques with deeper exploration of the experiences and patterns that have shaped you. That care shows up as a passionate commitment to helping you understand yourself with more kindness, heal the parts of you that have been carrying old wounds, and create meaningful, lasting change. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where you're free to show up authentically. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, Mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches, I help you gain insight, build practical coping skills, and grow in ways that last. That work is genuine, down-to-earth, and shaped around your pace, tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals. My path to becoming a therapist began with a genuine curiosity about people – their stories, their relationships, and the experiences that shape who they become. Over time, that curiosity grew into a deep commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, individualized care. Now, I bring warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person's lived experience to every session, creating space for you to feel truly seen, understood, and supported as you navigate your healing. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy drawing and painting, exploring my creative side, caring for my ever-growing collection of houseplants, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with my family. I also appreciate the little things that help life feel more grounded—good music, a cozy space, and finding moments for creativity and connection.
I specialize in treating depression and anxiety, with a focus on individuals navigating family conflict, intergenerational trauma, and the unique stressors that can come with immigrant and international backgrounds. These experiences can shape how people view themselves, relate to others, and manage stress, often contributing to feelings of overwhelm, guilt, or emotional strain. I also specialize in working with patients navigating bipolar and other mood disorders, grief, substance use, and co-occurring mental health disorders. Therapy helps to better understand these patterns and experiences, while also building practical tools to manage symptoms. It can help you set boundaries, improve communication, and develop healthier ways of coping. When combined with appropriate medication management, this approach can lead to more stability and an improved sense of control in daily life. I am passionate about mental health because I believe everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood. I strive to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care that meets you where you are while supporting you in building insight, resilience, and meaningful change in your life.

Are you successful at holding everything together on the outside while feeling disconnected, anxious or quietly stuck on the inside. You may find yourself overthinking, second-guessing yourself, repeating the same relationship patterns or wondering why life feels flatter than it should. Therapy isn't about fixing what's "wrong" with you. It's about understanding the patterns that once protected you but no longer fit the life you want to live. Together we'll help you reconnect with yourself, deepen your relationships and move past self-beliefs & patterns that dont serve you well. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent years as a corporate lawyer and as global head of talent at a major investment bank. I've sat on the other side of the table from senior professionals under real pressure — and I bring that firsthand understanding into the room, alongside training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic work. I work with two groups in particular: high-performing academics professionals and executives who are succeeding by every outward measure while quietly struggling with what's underneath it, and LGBTQ+ adults navigating identity, relationships and career. I believe that hope, humour and genuine human connection are central to healing.
