Therapists for college students near New York University
I am a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapist who works with young adults and adults on issues of identity, gender, sexuality, family and relationships, self-esteem, and anxiety. My focus areas include relationship patterns, unconscious dynamics, and family conflicts, particularly as they intersect with gender and identity. Direct and open, I aim to bring genuineness and compassion to our work together, and look forward to helping you find new paths for yourself. I'm passionate about therapy's power to help people live more creatively, and bring this flexible, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach to our work. Together, we create a compassionate, dynamic, and sensitive environment tailored to your unique situation, needs, and goals so you always feel supported. I draw on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy, along with mindfulness and a calm, sometimes humorous style, to help you feel stronger and freer. My path to becoming a therapist began with social work, teaching, and therapy in a community mental health clinic. This experience deepened my commitment to providing care that is sensitive to people's circumstances and the larger systems they navigate. Today, I bring a warm and open mind to the hidden aspects of your speech and concerns in each session. When I’m not in session, I am most often drawn to the arts and comedy.
Modern Psychotherapy with a Creative Edge
With curiosity, compassion, and openness, I approach therapy as a supportive and collaborative partner to my patients, who include children, adolescents, and adults. My specialties as a psychotherapist focus on trauma, self-esteem and identity concerns, difficult emotions, family stress, and periods of significant change. Together, we help you create a stronger sense of self, make sense of your experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and navigate relationships and life changes with greater confidence and self-understanding. I look forward to building a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore your experiences and work toward the changes that matter most to you. I believe people are capable of meaningful change when they feel supported rather than judged and, therefore, the therapeutic process should be shaped around each person's individual needs, strengths, and goals. That’s why I bring a warm, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach to care, as I'm passionate about making therapy a collaborative process where you feel safe to be honest, explore difficult experiences, and better understand yourself. You can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself, with a style that's collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals. Through evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-focused interventions, and psychodynamic therapy, I help you better understand your emotions and experiences, develop practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and work toward meaningful change. Therapy should meet you where you are rather than asking you to fit into a particular framework, so I shape our work around what feels most helpful and meaningful to you. I didn’t initially intend to become a therapist; I was invested in pursuing psychological research, but a serendipitous scheduling issue with an undergraduate placement moved me from research assistant to intake counselor, and I found myself deeply invested in the stories I heard and equally rewarded by the support I was able to provide in crucial moments. That experience led me to pivot my career aspirations, and I have since pursued clinical work across a variety of populations and modalities. All of this work has deepened my commitment to providing warm, collaborative care centered on the patient and how their unique experiences in life have shaped their perspectives and understanding of the world. In my free time, I like baking for the people in my life (I'm a big fan of pie), along with reading, painting, and photography. I'm also a long-suffering fan of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Inclusive Psychotherapy in New York for Adolescents, Adults, and Couples/Relationships You worry all the time about being judged by other people. You feel disconnected from your body and, at the same time, feel like it’s all you think about. You question what you say, how your body looks, if you’re doing things “right,” and there are so many times when your mind feels like it’s on a hamster wheel that you can’t stop. You’re on edge all day and sometimes feel like you may be having a heart attack. You don’t feel like you fit in anywhere. You’ve been made fun of for many different parts of who you are. You’ve been called weird or misunderstood at work, in your family, and even in some of your dating relationships. You’ve struggled to find someone who feels like a good fit romantically, and you’re worried there’s something wrong with you. From the start, we want you to know that at Meadow Therapy, we believe you have inherent worth simply by being born. Throughout your life, you’ve learned tools for survival that may no longer feel like they serve you. We can help you shift those survival skills using Mind to Body Psychotherapy. Mind to Body Psychotherapy is a mix of body-based work, exploration of childhood hurts, the neuroscience of emotions/emotional regulation, and other concrete coping skills, that will help you tap into your inner resources. You already have many creative tools you’ve used for survival. One of our goals is to help you move out of survival mode into having a thriving and fulfilling life. We offer inclusive therapy for adolescents and adults, couples therapy, and group therapy. Using Mind-to-Body Psychotherapy, we can help quiet your harsh thoughts, soothe your racing heart, and calm your body. We specialize in working with trauma survivors, LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Trans and Gender-Nonconforming, Self-Harming, Addicted, fat/larger-bodied, disabled, kink/BDSM, and polyamorous people. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I specialize in depression and anxiety, OCD, self-esteem, relationship issues, stress management, and life transitions for young adults and adults who want more than just a space to process difficult emotions. If you’re looking for practical tools, greater self-awareness, and the ability to navigate life's challenges with growing confidence and independence, then I am here for you. Therapy, to me, works best when it feels like a genuine partnership. I bring authenticity, curiosity, and respect to every session, and am committed to being a warm, honest presence as you work toward the life you want to create. Together, we'll explore the patterns that may be holding you back, develop skills that actually fit your life, and build the insight you need to keep moving forward. I don't believe therapy is about someone else having the answers for you. At its core, it's about creating space to slow down, get curious about yourself, and develop the tools needed to move through life with more confidence and intention. That belief shapes everything about how I work. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you reconnect with your strengths, explore your experiences with openness, and gain a clearer understanding of the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Rather than directing what you should do, I'll support you in discovering what feels right for you and help you build the confidence to trust yourself along the way. In practice, I draw on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic interventions. Sessions are welcoming and nonjudgmental, a space where you can learn to respond to emotions more effectively and strengthen your ability to act in alignment with your values. My interest in becoming a therapist started early in life. After losing loved ones, I found myself wanting to be a source of support for my family during the hardest moments. As I grew older, that desire evolved into a deeper passion for understanding people and the human experience. Through studying psychology and social psychology, I became fascinated by the ways our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and environments shape how we move through the world. I carry this passion and curiosity with me now, offering a genuine investment in understanding who you are and what you need to move forward. When I'm not working, I love exploring my creative side through art, cooking, baking, and decorating. I'm also an avid runner and regularly race half-marathons. Both creativity and running have taught me a great deal about myself, from learning how to navigate challenges and adapt to setbacks to appreciating the value of patience, curiosity, and growth.
During college, it's not unusual to feel overwhelmed. Perhaps you want closer friendships. Maybe you get anxious when you talk to new people, or you feel lonely or down. Maybe you're falling back into a familiar depression or returning to high levels of anxiety you hoped wouldn't follow you to college. It can be hard to think about going to therapy when you don't even know what you'd say. If you feel badly about yourself or you feel hopeless, it might be hard to think anything will help. You are not alone. You don't have to have the answers. Listening compassionately, I will invite you to bring your experience into the room. Together, we can collaborate to better understand you and the challenges you're confronting. We may discover unmourned losses or unhealed wounds. We may identify recurring patterns of thoughts, feelings, and interactions that may not be serving you anymore. Experiencing a greater emotional range, you can begin to heal. After working in university counseling centers for over 15 years, I now see many undergraduate and graduate students in private practice. I enjoy working both with students who are new to psychotherapy as well as those who have been in therapy previously. Many students I work with are LGBTQIA+/ queer students.

I’m a licensed therapist in New York specializing in collaborative, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed therapy. I work with people navigating challenges related to anxiety, trauma, life transitions, dysfunctional family relationships, and racial/cultural identity. Maybe this looks like chronic over-thinking, struggling in your relationships, difficulty with boundaries, stress, feeling conflicted about your identity, or more. However these challenges show up for you, I'm here to help!
You may be entering a new stage in your life, whether it is heading to college and moving out of your childhood home, starting your career, choosing to seek graduate or advanced training, or becoming serious in a committed relationship and starting your own family. You know what you want to achieve, but need additional support in navigating the stresses of setting off on this new path. Or maybe you want help in redefining the roles your family members and loved ones have in your life as you walk towards adulthood in a chaotic world. Maybe you have started your own family and made the decision to become a parent. You may want to parent differently than your parents, but are unsure how. You might be experiencing anxiety around being responsible for a vulnerable new human being. Children can be mirrors, reflecting our own experiences of childhood back onto us. Perhaps past painful experiences of not having your own needs met in childhood are bubbling up and you want to have a safe space to process and explore those experiences. Making lasting change can be difficult for most, and choosing therapy is the first step on the path towards positive growth and change.
I specialize in supporting adults navigating OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and bipolar disorder. My focus is on understanding the whole person—your experiences, strengths, and challenges—rather than just symptoms. I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and I adapt my style based on what resonates best with you, whether that means a more structured approach or a more exploratory, insight-oriented conversation. My goal is to empower you with tools and understanding you can carry beyond our sessions. Supporting patients in developing coping skills, accessing resources, and maintaining hope during difficult times inspires me. I am deeply committed to reducing stigma and ensuring that mental healthcare is accessible, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. Outside of work, I like to engage in activities that help me feel relaxed and present. Sometimes that means going for a walk outdoors to clear my mind. Other times, I might read a good book, listen to music, or spend time with friends and family.
There are times when we ask ourselves questions we feel we have no answers to: "Why am I not happy?", "How do I improve my life?" and "Will I ever find a solution to this problem that is consistent and stressful?". Have hope! The answers are there inside of you, waiting to be discovered. I strive to support my clients without judgement, challenging those who are ready to explore themes of personal responsibility, meaning, and resolution. Through genuine client/therapist interactions, the emotional impact of trauma, loss, depression, and/or anxiety can be relieved, and answers found. I have a wide range of experience in helping those who may be suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions. Working with older adolescents to older adults, I find that combining a person-centered therapy model with CBT, Gestalt, and Mindfulness interventions can be especially helpful. It is my belief that therapy should be an experience of thoughtfulness, reflection and discovery. In-the-moment therapeutic experiments, music therapy, and artistic mindfulness are all tools that can be used to stir the creative process towards finding the answers one is looking for, and the journey thereafter.

Dr. Campbell strives to meet each client with understanding and acceptance, while also challenging them to work toward a healthier, more authentic version of themselves. I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process to help individuals gain a fresh perspective on their lives, recognize repeating patterns in their behaviors and relationships, and find new solutions for old problems. My approach is psychodynamic and eclectic, balancing both depth and real-world focus to address the unique needs of each patient at the intersection of their physical, mental, internal, external, interpersonal, and sociopolitical spheres of experience. I have a particular passion working with individuals who find themselves outside of the narrow band of supposedly “normal” identity and desire, including people who are “kinky”/involved in BDSM, nonmonogamous, polyamorous, in open relationships, queer, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and/or trans* (transitioning or not transitioning). I endeavor to use my concentrated graduate study, post-graduate training, and clinical experience in these areas to provide a warm, open, and supportive space to facilitate self-understanding and growth.
As a clinical social worker with five years of experience, I help youth, young adults, and families confidently navigate behavioral challenges, anxiety, and dysregulation, building the communication and confidence they need to handle whatever comes next. Trust is essential to a positive therapeutic relationship, and I'm committed to building that ethically with every patient I work with. I look forward to learning more about you and taking on day-to-day discomforts together – as a team! I specialize in behavioral and cognitive interventions, primarily using a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) approach with elements of motivational interviewing and art therapy. This style is strength-based, concrete, and focused on problem-solving. Accountability, physical tools, and building healthy structure and routine are central to how I work, and I believe they are essential for growth. When working with me, you can expect a welcoming but intentional environment. I approach every patient with curiosity and a genuine intention to understand them. Collaboration drives my style: together, we'll focus on identifying what change matters most to you, and work toward the goals that move you closer to it. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own experiences in academic environments and my need for intervention due to dyslexia. After the support I received, I felt called to do the same for others, and I've brought that same desire to empower directly into my work. I enjoy pickling, playing frisbee, taking walks in the park, and spending time with friends and family.
