Times of transition are exciting and challenging. Starting something new, moving through inflection points in your education and career, preparing for completion and uncertainty while you figure out what's next, are all important processes everyone hopes will go smoothly - but sometimes they can feel rocky. Even good changes or subtle shifts can feel unsettling, especially for highly sensitive people. If social, academic or emotional / mental health issues are stressing you and making it hard to feel confident and supported in working towards your goals, therapy can be a great tool to help increase understanding about "how it all works" and get support in developing patience and progress towards deepening clarity and commitment to your goals. Anxieties, insecurity, depression, difficult patterns in relationships or work, and problems focusing can be understood and changed, so you have more energy and confidence to devote to living. Become more connected to yourself and others through a specialized process of exploration with a trained professional, and see a difference in your life. A therapist’s expertise and experience are very important, but the *key* ingredient of effective therapy is a “good fit” between you and your therapist. If you’d like to meet and see how it would be to work together, I would be pleased to hear from you. Beginning work as a psychotherapist in clinic settings in 1995, I opened my private practice in 2002. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, am a New York City based Licensed Clinical Social Worker (licensed in New York and New Jersey), and earned a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the NYFS Institute.

I am a mature psychoanalyst who has experience working with college students and other young adults who are facing life transitions. My areas of strength are working with trauma and BPD. You may be carrying a lot of trauma even if you don't identify yourself as a trauma survivor. My approach is not goal or coach oriented. I do not give advice rather I help people to get in touch with their authentic self so that they may be better able to cope with life's challenges.

College and graduate school can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions about your identity, or the pressure to keep up academically while managing everything else in your life. For some students, adjusting to life away from home, navigating independence, or recovering from difficult experiences such as trauma or past hardships can make this time especially challenging. I'm Kate Conway, a Mental Health Counselor Fellow (MHC-F) at Modern Talk, working under the clinical supervision of our licensed directors. Working with college students and young adults is at the heart of what I do — I have a deep understanding of the unique pressures this stage of life brings, and I know how much courage it takes to ask for support when you're in the middle of it. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and relational therapy — I work with you to understand the patterns, experiences, and relationships shaping how you think, feel, and move through the world, while drawing on practical, skills-based tools when the work calls for it. Whether you're looking for support during a difficult period, trying to better understand yourself, or hoping to build healthier coping skills and relationships, I'm here. I offer a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and develop the tools to navigate this chapter with greater confidence and resilience.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist with four years of experience, my work centers on helping individuals and couples in early to mid-life find their footing when it comes to dating, communication, family dynamics, work-life balance, and self-identity. Whether you're navigating a major life transition, working through relationship difficulties, or simply trying to feel more like yourself, you deserve a therapist who shows up as a genuine partner in that process. Authentic connection is at the heart of everything I do. You can expect a collaborative, accepting presence as we do this work together. I look forward to growing alongside you. Relationships are at the center of my practice, including the most important one you have: your relationship with yourself. From there, my approach is direct, collaborative, and individualized to your specific needs. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, I draw on person-centered and acceptance-based techniques, tailoring each session to your unique life experience so that our work together always feels relevant to you. That tailoring extends to the environment we create as well. Sessions are open, accepting, and nonjudgmental by design, a space where you can show up as you are. My style is gentle and forthright, as forming therapeutic relationships that help people become more authentically themselves is something I'm deeply passionate about. Together, we'll work toward helping you more genuinely know yourself and the people in your life. My path to becoming a therapist began as a teenager hungry for a sense of meaning in my life. This hunger brought me to study philosophy and then psychology as an undergraduate. I slowly realized that rather than being individualized, identity and meaning are things that are built up between people: through our relationships to friends, romantic partners, family, colleagues, or anyone else. This experience deepened my commitment to building the sorts of relationships in which identity and meaning are strengthened and nurtured -- like the relationships built in therapy. I bring this emphasis on genuine, human connection to each session. When I'm not in session, you might find me at an archery range, out for a run, or deep in a book on history, philosophy, biology, or psychology. Kurt Vonnegut and a good ghost story are always welcome on the nightstand! Drawing, video games, and Magic: The Gathering round out the mix, along with plenty of walks and playtime with my dog.

Finding the right therapist matters, and starting therapy can feel vulnerable. I aim to create a warm, supportive space where you feel understood, respected, and empowered. My goal is for therapy to be both practical and reflective—a place for insight, growth, and genuine change. I’m a licensed clinical psychologist working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, emotion dysregulation, increased stress, and life transitions. I work with individuals at different stages of life, including adults, adolescents, and children, and I also support parents as they navigate their own challenges and transitions. My approach to therapy is collaborative, flexible, and grounded in evidence-based practices, including CBT and DBT. I believe therapy should move at a pace that honors where you are and what you’re ready for. Together, we’ll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors connect, and work toward changes that feel both meaningful and sustainable. My background: I earned my doctorate degree (PsyD) in Combined School and Clinical Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. My professional experiences include work in community mental health, college counseling, and private practice settings, where I’ve provided evidence-based treatment to individuals across the lifespan. I also have experience supervising PhD/PsyD students and post-doctoral fellows.

If you feel overwhelmed by life's pressures or stuck in a period of change, I’m here to offer practical, evidence-based tools to help you regain balance, process difficult emotions, and build resilience. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with nearly a decade of experience helping adults of all backgrounds, ages 18 and older, navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, and systemic stress. Faith-based counseling is also available for those who prefer it to help align your mental health journey with your Christian values. Taking the leap into therapy takes real courage, but you don't have to carry life's weight by yourself. In our time together, I build an authentic, non-judgmental alliance that lets me be a grounded, compassionate partner every step of the way. I look forward to helping you step into greater clarity, emotional ease, and self-confidence as we work together. My approach to care is trauma-informed, collaborative, and culturally responsive, as I'm passionate about empowering you with practical, evidence-based tools while honoring your unique values, identity, and personal background. Together, we'll build a warm, grounded environment where that work can happen. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic approaches to help you address immediate challenges while exploring deeper root barriers when it's helpful. This integrative, person-centered style means I tailor my approach to your unique needs, goals, and definition of progress. I believe you are the true expert of your own life, and my role is to guide and equip you with tools that meet you where you are. If you thrive with actionable homework, you can count on it; if not, we'll skip it. Above all, our sessions are a safe, supportive space where you can feel fully heard, seen, and empowered to grow on your own terms. My path to becoming a therapist began earlier than I even realized—I was actually a peer mediator in elementary school with a natural draw toward supporting others. That memory had completely slipped my mind until I stumbled upon my elementary school yearbook as an adult. It was hilarious reflecting on what "big issues" kids were having at that age, but it was also a moving confirmation that this work is my true calling. On a deeper level, having navigated my own profound personal challenges gave me a first-hand window into how exhausting life can be when no one knows what is happening behind your eyes. That experience deepened my commitment to providing care where you never have to pretend. I bring authentic warmth, deep empathy, and a safe space to each session so you can finally drop the mask, set down the forced smile, and be fully seen. I am a big believer in holistic wellness and finding joy in the everyday. Outside of work, I love going to the gym, exploring nature (anything from a peaceful park walk to a hike), and tapping into my creative side through art, including painting, sketching, and coloring.

Welcome! Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need someone to talk to, you're not alone. I’m Dr. Shchupak, a licensed clinical psychologist with years of experience providing therapy and evaluations. As a social worker and psychotherapist with 8 years of experience, I offer collaborative, open, and nonjudgmental care for people interested in coming into deeper relationships with their full selves. I particularly enjoy working with caregivers, artists, neurodivergent individuals, LGBTQ+ folks, and creative people who are navigating questions about identity, relationships, and belonging. Many come to therapy burdened by beliefs that stem from systemic oppression, trauma, or early relational experiences. They may struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, dissociation, or the pressure to care for others at the expense of themselves. They’re looking for a space where they can slow down, tune-in, and make sense of their inner world. Their goals may include building more authentic relationships, developing greater self-compassion, and finding ways to live and create in a more full and embodied way. If this resonates with your search for greater mental wellness, please reach out today. I look forward to building a connection as your honest and participatory partner, embarking on this journey together through a systems-based and anti-oppressive lens tailored to your unique strengths and desires for change. I offer a therapeutic holding environment grounded in careful listening, curiosity, and the shared messiness and delight of being human. My work is relational and psychodynamic, meaning we explore how past and present relationships shape our emotional lives while working together toward deeper self-understanding, greater self-compassion, and more freedom in how you relate to yourself and others. Therapy with me makes room for opposites – we can acknowledge the patterns that helped you survive, and that they might be causing you difficulty right now. We can hold grief and hope in the same hour. And, we can move slowly and intentionally through these contradictions together. I am dedicated to bringing warmth, honesty, and a bit of humor into the room as we explore these patterns and emotions, including how they show up between us and in the words you choose. While we do this deeper work, I integrate Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to support you in concretely managing day-to-day challenges and holding the immense complexity this world has to offer us. My path to becoming a therapist began with providing home visits to LGBTQ+ older adults. In this work, I became familiar with the unique challenges and resiliencies that queer people and communities build over their lifespans. This experience deepened my commitment to providing open, nonjudgemental, and trauma-informed care. This is assured by listening with a careful presence that is affirming of kink, sex work, and polyamory in every session. In my free time, I love expressing my creative side through crafts like knitting and embroidery, reading, and cooking. I also enjoy spending time with my foster cats!

I’m a licensed therapist who works with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, and times when you just feel stuck or unsure about what’s next. I aim to provide a steady, supportive space where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgment. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting—therapy can be a place to sort things out as you go. I see therapy as a collaborative and practical process. My role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help you better understand what’s getting in your way. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you and work toward meaningful, realistic change. I often use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you build tools you can actually use day to day—whether that’s managing stress, getting out of your own head, or feeling more confident in your decisions. We can take things at your pace, and there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. I began my career doing street outreach with individuals experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. That experience shaped how I approach this work today—it taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, showing up consistently, and creating a space built on respect and trust. Outside of therapy, I enjoy going to the movies with friends, staying active, and spending time in the park. I also like trying new restaurants around the city.
