Therapy is a powerful tool for reflection and change. Whether working with teens or adults, my approach is insightful and exploratory, helping clients uncover unconscious patterns. Sometimes, we become stuck in painful or unsatisfying ways of being and need a safe space to learn, heal, and grow. I commonly work with issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transition, and relationships. In our work together, I help clients understand the impact of past experiences on the present, with a focus on the here-and-now. I also incorporate breathing and mindfulness practices to help manage everyday stress.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in collaboration, with the goal of supporting clients as they grow, explore, and integrate all aspects of their holistic selves in alignment with their personal values and goals. I recognize that life can bring periods of feeling stuck, disconnected, or caught in patterns of avoidance, anxiety, and discontentment. In response, I offer a trauma-informed, intermodal framework that incorporates creative and expressive arts therapies alongside evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic techniques, neuroscience, and nutrition-based insights—tailored to each client’s unique needs and interests. Together, we work to build practical skills that foster intentional growth and healing from past experiences, empowering clients to move toward more fulfilling and connected lives.

As a mental health professional with 26 years of experience, I am dedicated to helping children, adults, and geriatric populations navigate anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and grief and loss. My approach is built upon the pillars of warmth, compassion, and evidence-based therapies, as I am passionate about the power of human connection and resilience. Let’s work together to discover your strengths and develop practical coping skills. I believe in creating a collaborative, open, and affirming environment that is tailored to your unique strengths and abilities. Your healing journey may include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, art therapy (younger patients), and more approaches to help you manage self-doubt and develop healthy coping skills. At all times, I practice person-centered therapy, respecting your self-determination and honoring confidentiality, which helps me promote your best interest and develop a life worth living. I look forward to exploring your personal journey and experience in our work together. My path to becoming a therapist began as a mental health screener for the World Trade Center employees and volunteers who worked at ground zero after 9/11, who faced indescribable tragedy and environmental exposure to an unprecedented event in our nation's history. This experience shaped who I am and the compassionate, patient-focused therapist I strive to be, one that enables me to bring a comprehensive understanding of loss and grief to my practice now. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, from hiking the trails to gardening at home. I also love music and volunteering in my community to strengthen connections.

I specialize in working with high-functioning adult trauma survivors navigating life transitions, relationship dynamics, marriage, and family challenges. Using CBT, narrative therapy, and psychodynamic approaches, I help patients process trauma, reconstruct meaning, address current relational patterns, and explore mental health concerns within the context of their lived experiences. The therapeutic relationship I build with patients can help them reclaim their stories, understand relationship patterns, build stronger connections, and move through life with more clarity and resilience. I believe therapy works best when it's real and relational. I'm present, authentic, and genuinely interested in understanding you and your story. My hope for you is that you feel safe and comfortable in sharing the most intimate details of your life with me as a mental health professional, but also as a fellow human being. I take a humanistic approach in my work, always keeping in mind that patients who sit before me in sessions are so much more than a diagnosis or notes on a page. I want you to know that you can come exactly as you are and be accepted.

I've had meaningful experience working with patients struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. These challenges often overlap and can show up as feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or not quite like yourself. I focus on helping patients understand what they're experiencing, such as differentiating intrusive thoughts from more severe conditions, which often reduces fear and improves engagement in treatment. I also work well with individuals who feel stuck in cycles of rumination, avoidance, or emotional dysregulation, helping them build insight and develop more effective ways to cope and function day to day. I’m most passionate about making mental healthcare more approachable, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals and underserved communities who often face added barriers, stigma, or lack of access to care. I find it meaningful to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and non-judgmental, where people can be fully themselves. My hope is that you feel comfortable being honest, even about things that are hard to say, and that over time you gain a clearer understanding of yourself, feel more in control of your thoughts and emotions, and build confidence in navigating your life.

As a mental health counselor dedicated to helping patients cultivate clarity and confidence, I specialize in treating children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. My goal is to help you navigate anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, life transitions, and/or identity explorations so you live your life fully and authentically. I believe that you are the expert on your life and that everyone is capable of growth and change, which helps me be a supportive and motivational partner to you in the therapy room. I look forward to being a part of your transformative growth in our work together. I’m passionate about helping you know yourself better, increase your psychological flexibility, and find your inner strength. We achieve this together in a collaborative and empathetic environment that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to guide you in identifying and understanding your core beliefs and patterns, and becoming aware of how these are serving or not serving you. My style is eclectic, collaborative, and person-centered so that care is tailored to your unique needs. My career began with the desire to be a teacher, a path that inspired me to help people learn more about themselves and how to interact with the world around them, not just within school subjects. This experience, along with time spent working with children, adolescents, and families who are or who have been involved in the legal, justice, and child welfare systems, led me to pursue counseling. In my role now as a therapist, I’m committed to using the knowledge and wisdom gained throughout my journey by providing evidence-based mental health care that meets people where they’re at through warmth and humor. I enjoy filling my free time with friends, family, and loved ones. You’ll also often find me scrapbooking and crocheting, or out and about going for walks, spending time outside, and listening to live music.

There are times when we ask ourselves questions we feel we have no answers to: "Why am I not happy?", "How do I improve my life?" and "Will I ever find a solution to this problem that is consistent and stressful?". Have hope! The answers are there inside of you, waiting to be discovered. I strive to support my clients without judgement, challenging those who are ready to explore themes of personal responsibility, meaning, and resolution. Through genuine client/therapist interactions, the emotional impact of trauma, loss, depression, and/or anxiety can be relieved, and answers found. I have a wide range of experience in helping those who may be suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions. Working with older adolescents to older adults, I find that combining a person-centered therapy model with CBT, Gestalt, and Mindfulness interventions can be especially helpful. It is my belief that therapy should be an experience of thoughtfulness, reflection and discovery. In-the-moment therapeutic experiments, music therapy, and artistic mindfulness are all tools that can be used to stir the creative process towards finding the answers one is looking for, and the journey thereafter.

The clients with whom I work tend to seek a better understanding of their coping mechanisms, relationship patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. I often work with college and graduate students that struggle with negative beliefs related to their capabilities and worthiness. I help clients to explore how past experiences have contributed to developing coping mechanisms, such as persistent worry, perfectionistic tendencies, and hypervigilance in social situations, that may have been helpful in the past but are no longer serving them in the present.

I have been a therapist for more than 30 years. I am compassionate, empathetic and supportive. I don't adhere to one particular therapeutic type, since one size doesn't fit all. I tend to be down-to-earth, and can offer practical advice, and when called for, a sense of humor.

Many of the clients I work best with are international students navigating life far from home—often balancing academic pressure, cultural adjustment, and questions of identity and belonging, all while holding emotions they may not feel safe expressing elsewhere. They may appear high-functioning on the outside, yet feel disconnected, lonely, or uncertain inside. Our work together offers a space to slow down, make sense of what they’re carrying, and reconnect with parts of themselves that have been silenced or split across languages, cultures, or expectations.

I help adults get back to living their lives – no matter what thoughts and feelings might be hanging around. Does it feel like lately your thoughts, emotions, urges, and impulses are running the show? Do they jerk you around, become the boss, and pull you away from the life you want to live? Do you spend so much time trying to manage your anxiety, or your insomnia, or protect yourself from pain that your life has shrunk? Whether it’s racing thoughts that keep you up all night, or dread that keeps you away from your old hobbies and good friends, or a diagnosis you were handed with little to no support – I’m here for you. Let’s get YOU and your deepest values running the show again – so that you can build a satisfying and vibrant life. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and focus primarily on health psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and biofeedback. This means that I have in-depth knowledge about how the mind and body influence each other and how to move towards a healthier, calmer baseline in your day-to-day life. I use a variety of skills to help reduce the power of exhausting thoughts and feelings, improve your ability to relax, figure out what matters most to you, and learn to relate to pain, worry, sleeplessness, and other struggles in new ways. A large part of treatment includes education about pain, anxiety, the nervous system, and mindfulness - all of which can have a positive impact on mental health and well-being. As a neuroscience geek, I can get really excited about new research and I love to share this with my patients. On a more personal note: I have been where you are right now. You are not alone.
