Hello! I work with folks on issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, disordered eating and body image. More than just developing better coping skills, I also want to help you explore where the worry, negative self-beliefs and unhelpful coping behaviors come from. When we do that, we can appreciate how all behavior really is an attempt to get our needs met, diminishing the shame that so often surrounds mental health struggles. My goal is to help you foster more compassion for yourself, making it easier to understand your inner needs and mindfully pursue actions that are healing. I'm trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and I'm always learning more about treating trauma to help address the impact of past overwhelming experience, whether they felt big or small.

I am a health at every size informed provider (meaning, all bodies are deserving of the same care without criticism and my practice will never include recommending intentional weight loss). While I don’t advertise myself as specializing in LGBTQIA+ areas, this is a population that regularly struggles with disordered eating and anxiety concerns and I am comfortable working with and am an advocate for informed, compassionate care for this population. Welcome! I specialize in parts work, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I can help you heal your nervous system, expand your emotional capacity, and relate more effectively. I work with adults who feel stuck in thoughts, emotions, or relationship patterns that just aren’t working. I also work with those struggling with a sudden stressor or those who want to work through past events. This can include things like trauma, depression, a challenging transition or the loss of a loved one, or low self-esteem and persistent self-criticism or doubt. You might feel the impact at work or in school, in your close relationships, or in your relationship with yourself. My collaborative approach integrates evidence-based therapy methods with compassion, humor, and attuned listening. I am directive as needed, provide structure, and welcome long silences, fast-paced intensity, and everything in between. Together, we will explore past experiences, patterns, and what is happening in the here and now to foster clarity, cultivate change, and increase satisfaction in your life and relationships. We will also practice concrete skills such as assertive communication, boundary setting, and emotion regulation. I find that most people who come to see me are ultimately longing for a sense of inner peace, personal agency, and meaningful connections. Change is possible. Let’s work towards it together. I offer a free 15-20 minute initial consultation call to go over questions and see if we might be a good fit.

My approach to counseling is collaborative, compassionate, patient, and kind. I will focus on understanding you where you are at without judgement, so that you can have greater acceptance of yourself and your experience, and be able to be vulnerable and honest with someone who cares as you navigate the challenges you face. I don't believe that there are any "quick fixes" in therapy - rather, I see counseling as more like a journey of lasting change, personal growth, and self-development, one that can be achieved in relationship with someone who can support you and your process. My work focuses on people at all stages of life who are working through developmental transitions (leaving home, starting or ending a relationship, experiencing big life changes, etc.) who want to better understand who they are, and how they can become the best version of themself using the strengths they have within themselves. I help people to understand themselves and their patterns so they can identify and gain insight about their thoughts, feelings, and identify blind-spots to be able to make choices and move forward in a direction that feels best for them.

Making Sense of Your Experiences Over nearly three decades of working with clients, I've come to appreciate how resilient people really are. I've learned that meaningful change often begins when we better understand what has shaped the way we think, feel and behave. Therapy can offer a place to make sense of those influences, recognize patterns that may no longer be working and develop new ways of approaching life that feel more effective and sustainable. Many of the clients I work with are gaining a deeper understanding of how early relationships and experiences continue to affect the way they see themselves, relate to others and respond to challenges in the present. Some have spent years feeling on edge, different, misunderstood or unsure of themselves. Others find that the ways they have learned to cope or connect with others are no longer serving them well, leaving them feeling disconnected, stuck or unsure of what comes next. Therapy can help create greater clarity around these experiences and what you'd like to be different going forward. Understanding How You’re Wired A significant focus of my practice is working with adults with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence, including those diagnosed later in life. For many, discovering they have ADHD in adulthood brings both relief and grief, as years of experiences begin to make sense through a different lens. With that understanding, many begin to see their past experiences, struggles and strengths in a new light. Together, we can explore what helps you function at your best, build on your strengths, quiet self-doubt and help you feel more at ease and confident in yourself. How I Approach Therapy I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual. No two people bring the same history, strengths, needs or way of seeing the world. My approach is warm, collaborative and practical, with plenty of room for curiosity, reflection and real-life problem solving. We’ll work together in a way that feels intentional, useful and genuinely suited to you. No matter what brings you here, my hope is that therapy helps you understand yourself with greater clarity, self-compassion and confidence.

I work with relationship issues and sexuality, certified as a Relationship Therapist through the Gottman Institute of Seattle. I am also certified as a Sex Therapist through AASECT, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Several years ago I realized I am autistic and now I address issues experienced by people who are autistic/ Asperger's or those who wonder whether they may carry that diagnosis. I also see people with other forms of neurodivergence such as ADHD. Originally I am from Boston and grew up in a working class family with a commitment to political activism. I am licensed in NY and FL as well as Oregon and Washington State. Although I offer some reduced fee spots I am sorry to say they are consistently full.

"I am a failure." -"I am broken." -"I have nothing to offer." -"If I make changes, everyone will hate me." -"I can't change." ...Do these sound familiar? You've been trying to solve everything on your own but you're feeling stuck. You really need a space where you can talk through ALL of the jumbled up thoughts and feelings inside, because you're starting to feel like a pressure cooker. I'm a LGBTQIA+ and relationship affirming therapist specializing in trans and nonbinary wellness. I'm experienced with providing counseling to folks across the lifespan, and in and around the gender binary. I'm a staunch believer that all people have the resources inside themselves to make changes toward becoming ever more healthy, connected, and complex. The focus of my approach is self-acceptance. This means that I'm not going to push you to talk about things you're not ready to talk about yet. Instead, we'll make space for you to examine YOUR process toward making the changes YOU want in your life--because it's about damn time. And "I can't change" is, well, bullsh*t.
