Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
My name is Rushini, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I was born in Sri Lanka, moved to New York City at a young age and made my way to Chicago much later in life. I love building therapeutic relationships with my clients and do this with authenticity. I show up as me, you show up as you, no filters needed. I enjoy working with teenage aged individuals to older adults and have worked with various mental health related concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment, self-esteem, familial discord, cultural and personal identity and more. Additionally, I am a certified trauma conscious yoga instructor and certified complex trauma therapist. I am honored that you have considered me to be a part of your healing journey and I hope to connect with you soon!
I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies. I have over 18 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families. My experience has shown that change is typically hard work and often requires compassionate and collaborative support in order to build new skills. I see clients in both Oregon and Massachusetts and I offer a 30 minute free video or phone consultation to see if I am the right fit for you.
My clinical specialization is in the treatments and interventions of those struggling with eating disorders, compulsive exercise, and poor body image. My therapeutic approach is inclusive of trauma informed care and strengths-based perspectives that centers body safety, fat liberation, and inclusivity. I believe that we are the experts in our own lived experiences, therefore I prioritize collaboration in the change and therapeutic process. As a psychotherapist, you can also expect me to be patient, compassionate, curious, direct, and incredibly hilarious.
Are there old patterns stuck on repeat in your relationship that you’ve tried to change but can’t seem to? Is relationship stress or anxiety in general getting in the way of your feeling satisfied or in flow with your life? Maybe you feel invisible or unappreciated. Perhaps you feel a sense of powerlessness or frustration due to your boundaries being overstepped. You may have even stopped trying due to repeated failures trying to "fix" what isn't working. The truth is every now and then we need support from someone who has the knowledge, training, and personal experience to help you with something like this. I help clients heal and learn from old relationship wounds and improve their relationship with themselves and others. I help people get to the heart of the matter and go beyond learning and implementing coping skills. In this way we can get to know what is creating barriers to joy, calm, and flow in your relationships and in your life. Please note that addition to qualifications listed within this profile, I am a certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician. Whether working through anxiety, contemplating/preparing for a breakup or moving on from a relationship, healing from the fallout of antagonistic relational stress and/or narcissistic abuse, strengthening your boundaries, or you're just wanting to give that critical inner voice the boot so that you simply feel better about you, I'm here to help. * I am contracted with Care Oregon and am able to work with Trillium Community Health of OHP via single case agreement.

*I am licensed in both Oregon and California, and can work with students who often travel between these two states.* When the difficult experiences from your past are still impacting you, it is hard to know what to do. You don’t feel like yourself anymore, and the people in your life are starting to notice. It’s coming out at school, in your relationships, in your mood. You might be thinking “I just want to move on with my life. Why can’t I just get over it already?” But no matter how many times you try to move on, you still feel stuck. You are not alone. I help people who have been through difficult childhood, sexual, and relationship experiences look at how their experiences have shaped them, and explore how to take back their lives from the memories that have burdened them for so long. Together, we will build a trusting relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore what happened in your life, the ways you have survived, and how to get unstuck so you can move toward a life that is ruled by you, and not by the past. I know reaching out to begin therapy can be an overwhelming experience. I offer a free 15-20 minute consultation, where you can share a bit about what you would like to work on, ask me any questions you may have, and we can determine whether I might be a good fit for your needs. Please feel free to visit my website to learn more and schedule a consultation. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

It’s important to me that that therapy is a space for all people to feel safe and accepted. I have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and belief systems. I specialize in working with LGBQIA+, Trans*/GNC, and poly-identified clients. My approach fosters a space where you can be unapologetically YOU. You might react more quickly than you want, shut down in parenting, or show up in relationships in ways that don’t match who you know yourself to be. Using EMDR and parts-based (IFS-informed) therapy, I help adults and parents process past experiences so you can break automatic cycles, heal trauma, and feel more grounded. I provide therapy for adults and parents seeking a specialized, deep approach. Together, we’ll get to the root of these patterns to create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is warm, grounded, and intuitive with an easygoing style and room for humor. Since 2011, I have helped clients navigate the complex intersection of trauma and relationships. Using a parts-based approach refined over 15 years of practice, I help you bridge the gap between your past experiences and your current reactions as a partner and a parent. As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, we’ll move at a pace that works for you, without pressure, while staying focused on what will help things shift. I offer online therapy to clients anywhere across Oregon. I also offer free consultations to see if we’re a good fit or if you need guidance on where to go next.

I'm a provider with 16 years experience working with LGBTQIA+ adult clients. My work often involves supporting folks around gender, sexuality, and family of origin issues, among all the other things people seek therapy for. I am trained in two different types of trauma therapy (EMDR and Flash) that are less talk-therapy focused, for folks who need different ways to approach things.

Hi! I’m Brittany with Active Counseling and Therapy. We are all unique. Each and every person has their own life experiences, expectations about life, and goals for life that influence their life lens and decision making. However, when our expectations become misaligned with our current experiences, we may feel anxious, depressed, or lack self esteem. These can trigger difficulties with romantic, familial, and friendly relationships. It is my goal to help you capitalize on your strengths and take steps to live the life of your dreams. I utilize a Person-Centered Approach that aligns with my philosophy and belief that every individual is different. While I do draw more often from tenets of Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), other modalities may be incorporated with a heavy influence on a strengths-based approach. Let’s get moving toward reaching your goals!
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, whether it's your first time or you're looking for something different than what you've tried before. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or simply ready for something to change — especially in the middle of the demands of student life, work, or both. I've worked in mental health since 2000, with over 25 years of experience with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I'm licensed in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, and I see clients through secure telehealth. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, chronic illness, relationship concerns, burnout, and major life transitions. I have particular experience with college and graduate students, helping professionals, and people navigating the emotional weight of chronic or invisible illness. My approach is collaborative and active. Insight matters, but understanding why a pattern exists doesn't always change how it feels — so alongside talking, we work toward new emotional, relational, and nervous-system experiences that let change happen on a deeper level. I draw on attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and approaches like Somatic Experiencing, AEDP, IFS, and EMDR, depending on what fits you. Some sessions focus on practical strategies and current challenges. Others slow down to explore what's happening underneath. We'll find the pace that actually helps.

Have you ever had a moment, conversation, or even a look that gave made you feel felt? That felt sense of connection is what Resonance, LLC is based on. Too often, we are forced to stay on the surface level or simply don't know how to connect on a more meaningful level--perhaps because we were taught to; perhaps because of trauma; or maybe because we are afraid someone will abandon/make fun of/misunderstand us. Resonance is about feeling accompanied, being seen, heard, and mostly, felt, throughout the healing process.
Are you struggling to engage or enjoy activities you once used to, or to make healthy friendships, connect, stay focused on studies? Therapy may involve processing trauma, helping you develop increased awareness, exploring thought processes, relationships and behavior patterns, as well as learning new skills to manage your symptoms and relationships.
